Registries
Alberta Netcare EHR has developed a common set of registries for secure and unique identification of clients, providers, and service locations. Identifying individuals uniquely is the first step to securely adding health information to their record. This work will support the secure authorization and authentication of all health service providers accessing Alberta Netcare EHR.

Key Benefits

Accurate, consistent and timely identification of clients within the publicly funded health system:

  • Enhanced privacy and confidentiality of person information

  • Reduced costs and risks associated with person misidentification

  • Improved health care delivery to the client at the point of care

These are large and complex projects. Alberta Netcare EHR is working closely and collaboratively with Alberta Health Services and the professional colleges to ensure their successful development.

Registry Projects

  • A patient/client registry - For individuals, identifying each patient uniquely is the first step to securely adding health information to their record.

  • A provider registry - for physicians, pharmacists and other health service providers, unique identification is important not only for access to Alberta Netcare EHR Portal but also to clearly attribute care decisions and directions. This project supports the secure authorization and authentication of all authorized health service providers accessing Alberta Netcare.

  • A service location registry - where services are performed and delivered is important and useful administrative information.

  • A clinical event repository - captures key clinical events at the point of care to provide health service providers with a more complete picture of a patient's encounters with the health system.
