eReferral offers Alberta Netcare users the ability to create, submit, track and manage referrals in real time throughout the referral process. At all stages in the referral life cycle, any health care professional associated with a referral can track its status and view its details.

In July 2014, eReferral launched a limited production rollout for referrals – ‘consult request’ to hip and knee joint replacement surgery and routine medical/radiation oncology for breast and lung cancer.

eReferral continues to expand to include more specialties. Currently the following specialty groups are accepting ‘advice requests’ from referring providers: nephrology, urology, endocrinology, pulmonary medicine, adult gastroenterology, obs/gyn, spinal neurosurgery, general internal medicine and addiction medicine.
