Referring providers can now find a new QuRE referral template in Healthquest, TELUS Med Access, TELUS PS Suite, TELUS Wolf and QHR Accuro electronic medical record (EMR) systems. Providers can use these templates to create high-quality referral letters and attach them as a PDF to an eReferral Advice Request or Consult Request, or they can print and fax/mail them to specialty clinics. The templates use macros which allows you to pull information from one of the EMRs mentioned above into the referral form, which saves you from having to copy some information over to the new form.

Why should you use them? 

Quite simply, quality referrals help referring and receiving providers. Inadequate or missing information on a referral can lead to delayed access to care, patient frustration, poor compliance, and is ultimately a patient safety issue. These new templates include key information that help referring providers include pertinent patient information so specialists can have the right information at their fingertips. This can help reduce the amount of unnecessary back-and-forth communication between providers, and ensure the patient can be seen at the right time.
