Community Information Integration

The primary goal of CII is to improve Albertan’s continuity of care across the health system through better access to primary care and community health information. To achieve this goal, CII project collects patient data from physician offices and other community-based clinics and makes it available to other healthcare providers through Alberta Netcare. The information is also used to support quality improvement efforts and health system planning.

The Community Information Integration (CII) initiative is currently in a limited production roll out. The Alberta Medical Association (AMA), College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA), and Alberta Health (AH) identified the need for frequently asked question (FAQ) documents to explain the CII initiative and its implications to patients and providers of CII clinics.
